Monet
Claude Monet was born today, November 14, 1840. Last weekend in an oil-painting workshop, I used his work, Impression Sunrise, as an example of using color rather than value for impact when painting a piece. 
Squint at the piece and you can see how little value difference there is in the actual sunrise. Interesting what can be accomplished with color alone.

Snow Geese
Tuesday, I drove across Fir Island and discovered the snow geese had returned. We live in a flyway and often hear them overhead as wave after wave of honking Vs traverse the sky.
Never one to waste an opportunity for reference material, I swung the car onto a gravel road and snaped close to a hundred photos. Isn't this one pretty?

Exciting new artists will be appearing in the gallery. My own originals and prints can be purchased online. It will take me a few days to get them up there, but they are coming. Paper artist Sharyn Sowell, appearing in the February Victoria Magazine, is joining our gallery.
